My senior year of college I was selected to be the Creative Director and Lead Designer for the campus literary magazine: Currents. The Editor-In-Chief and I worked together to create the edition "Multiplicities" that captured the complicated lives and truths of humanity. We solicited student writers and drew inspiration from their words to create this edition.
We developed a "scribble" motif that added a bit of whimsy to the minimalist design. This was coupled with our section headings that were created at a campus event sponsored by the English Department: a Group Scribble. We invited students, staff, and professors to participate and use a variety of provided art materials to scribble out their emotions onto three separate pages, each titled after a different section of the magazine.
Pieces in the first section, titled "Night Vision," encompassed elements of surrealism, sleeplessness, and other stories of the night.
Submissions in the second section, titled "Pillow Talk," explored love, sex, and romance.
The final section, aptly titled "Final Rest," contained pieces about death, aging, and pain.
The final spread, a message from the Editor-In-Chief of the project and me.
